Finally a clear cloud free morning in northwest Georgia.
Austell Georgia north bound NS 725 Consist UP 7216, 5213 & 5713 DPU. The NS 9253 Operation Life Saver Unit was on the tail end of this north bound empty RWSX coal train to be dropped off at Forestville Yard as the Braswell Mountain pusher. This coal drag is one of four RWSX train sets currently operated by the UP providing coal to Plant Scherer in addition to the 30+ trains sets operated by the BNSF to the power plant.

Lithia Springs Georgia 24E (DALLAS, TX (KCS IDAAT2) - ATLANTA, GA) east bound stack train holding the siding with the NS6952 in the lead as 75M  an MT coal drag with the NS 1089 SD90ACe on the point heads west on the main line.

West Douglasville curves Amtrak 19 west bound with the 177 112 for power. On time for a change!

Winston Georgia, west bound 27A (BRUNSWICK GA / VANCE ALA) with the NS9547 in the lead and the NS8415 head west toward the east end of the Winston siding. This train went into emergency at MP663.8 with an air hose break between the 10th & 11th cars. Once moving again the detector that the 663.0 reported the train as "To Slow" First I have heard a detector ever report that.

West Douglasville curves east bound NS 220 (DALLAS, TX (KCS IDAAT)/ATLANTA, GA) with KCS 4608, 3920 & NS9887. At this location of the main line there are three direction changes in about an 800 yard distance before the line straightens out to the east. A challenging photo to take as US 78 is between you and the main line.

West Douglasville curves east bound NS 290 (MCCALLA, AL - CROXTON, NJ)

The below photo is from a previous trip that gives a better perspective of the forces at play in this section of track. In this photo UP 8834 leads NS 22G (LONG BEACH, CA (UP KLBNS) - ATL, GA) east to Austell to be pulled back north to Whitaker Yard. A single unit on each end is how this train normally runs.

By 11:30 am the clouds started forming again and at 2pm the bottom fell out with another down pour. Not the best time of year to be track side here in the southeast.
