Well seen that a few of my locos have them now so im updating them .... just need to order new antennas
Is that PTC thingy a "made" part... or is it scratchbuilt? Dan
Scratch built .... and I found out there's 4 can type antennas 3 large sinclairs 1 small Sinclair 2 what look like Garmin GPS that earlier ACes Have and 3 tiny lil black dots along with 4 eyebolts on each platform ..... NS and UP are the only roads I myself seen have them !
Nice job! Thanks for the info. Dan
Thanks and No prob. This is what I have so far
Looking good! I have some older Athearn Blue Box Locos that I will eventually get around to putting on details. Such as antennas, fuel fillers, mu cables etc... but, chances are I never will! LOL! Dan
Looking good man, KCS,NS,UP,CP have different types of PTC setup ups going on.
Looks good! Adds character with subtle differences between alike units too!
Thanks Everyone.... and dan if ya need ever need help detailing or catching up I can help ya out!!!
All done!
Nice... kinda looks like pinball machine parts! LOL! Dan
Lol it does don't it ! There's a lot going on up there
Hey Badhorse,
Bringing this topic back up.....
What are the measurments of the two "pads" the antennas are mounted on?
Also, Is the antenna set-up the same on the engines or is there a few variations?
What antennes (part numbers) did you use?
I have decided to pull a SD70m (2581) I have into the shop for some updating and modifications.
THANKS!
I wanna say the Front pads 4' long and as wide as the surface of the top of the cab and the back bad is 3' long ! And I used a pic someone on Facebook posted for the arrangement for the antennas I dont think there's a standard as I've seen some with a lot and some with just a few
Hope this helps
Thanks!
I need to find some good detail photos of the prototypes.
I have a friend that has been asking me build one for him.
I have been wanting to do one for myself.
So, I guess I will do both at one time.
I have not found any good pictures yet.
Need to find two different prototype roof shots.
I know it is on a GE...but, looks like the ones on the SD60M/I's and SD70M-2's to me. DE Dan
Thats a good picture! Wish there were more pictures like that out there!
Just started another one for 6789
Looking nice.
Thanks David ! Weathered the top tonight while I was at it
K not sure why its up side down I tried to fix it but clearly not gonna work
Looks fine to me! But, then again, I am drunk... and just had a head on collision with the floor! LOL! DE Dan
OUCH them floors come outta no where some times
If there is enough interest, I could draw these up and send them to shapeways to be 3D printed. They should be under $10 plus shipping. Just need the dimensions. You could order them directly from shapeways once they have the drawings.

That's a great idea! Shapeways does some good work. DE Dan
Theres plenty of interest between here and the NS modeling FB page.
My question is: When you draw this up, would you make the antennaes also part of the pad also? Or would we still have to buy them seperately? If you made the can antennaes at least part of it, it would make it very cost effective for buyers. (opinion)
I personally would love to see this in production, as I model modern with updates every time I see them.
The only thing that would NOT be included would be the "tubes" connecting the 2 main parts. These would be too fragile, and would be almost sure to brake in handling. The antennas would be included. I could post pics here before doing anything. If the parts are cheap enough, I could make it like a 2 pack or 5 pack or something. I believe their base shipping is like $6.95 or something, so you don't want a $2.00 part with $7.00 shipping....

Hey, I'm all for it!!! Love to see it!!
OK folks let the critics sing. The overall dimensions are in the model details. PLEASE measure them as I am used to doing N scale, not HO. They would only print it in FUD material which made it a bit pricier than I thought it would be but nothing I can do about that. I would like some feedback.

Looks ggreat!!
Have you given any thought to maybe doing the new long antennae thats on the new SD70ACe's? Or the dual long conical ones on the new ES44AC's?

Looks good! The FUD only is prob because of the small detailled parts. Still, under $10 is a great deal!!! DE Dan
If anyone makes an order, I would like to see pictures. Would like to see the raw part....after painting, and after installation.
Thanks,
Paul
I would like to see pics also.

I can pretty much draw anything you want and up it to shapeways, but remember the shipping with them is $6.95 per order....so small items would need to be ordered in quantity. If you have pics or drawings of what you need with dimensions, I will see what I can do.
Paul
Shapeways informed me that a thingamabob has been sold. If someone on here purchased it, could you please post pics?
Thanks,
Paul
