Title: "NV" Tower, Nicholasville KY
Post by: E.M. Bell on March 04, 2007, 09:18:53 PM
From the UK collection..

"NV" tower, located on Single track at MP 93.1 on the CNO&TP, Nicholasville KY. NV tower is the location that the storied Kentucky RR, the RNIB (The Richmond, Nicholasville, Irivine and Beatyville). In the first shot, you are looking North on the CNO&TP, with the RNIB crossing left to right. Note the boxcar on the interchange track in the background, and that tiny little rail on the crossing, as compared to the "big" rail on the mainline.

Second shot is looking South on the CNO&TP towards Danville. Interesting stuff to say the least. The RNIB is long gone, but the NS still uses the same alignment through the area. The location where the tower was is now in the middle of a subdivision.. Good stuff..

WOW!!! A piece of Nicholasville history. They need a railroad museum here in town to archive such photos as those.

Nice shots, Emmett.

Color me confused.  If the site of the tower is surrounded by subdivision housing now, yet the railroad is on the same alignment, do you not mean that the crossline railroad has been swallowed up by a subdivision?  If it's the site of the interlocking, that means there's a house right there.  This location would make a great before and after shot.

The CNO&TP is still single track and in the same place now, that it was in the photos. The RNIB has been gone since the 1930's, hence all the urban blight.
