William T Martin sent me an email tonight and asked me to share the following Two links with our members. WTM is a reporter/railfan in Rome GA, and recently produced a couple of short pieces about the NS around that area. These are on Youtube, and should be viewable without any extra plugins.

'Come along as the everyday work of railroaders is profiled in this video. Featuring crews of two local switchers working the Rome, Ga. area recently.'

Neat vids. One thing I've always wondered is what it would be like to work  another division, to see what they see, and interact with their different customers.

This doesn't have to do with NS but there is a guy who works for BNSF in Barstow,CA who has recorded some of his rides from the cab.

 8) Thanks Bell, I lived in Rome, GA, for ten years.
By scanner, and birdog, I learned every site, videoed.
At the first, the road is Riverside Dr.  It has been widened.
The coil cars, always intrigued me, as what kind of industry used coils!
The big train of the day, was Run7.  It supplies coal cars, mty boxes, and loaded pulpwood to the paperboard industry. It had a caboose, through the 90's.
Note, that the power, is a SD40. I bet the crew, would have never suspected the use of an SD40, 25 years ago!

The steel cars go to Dayton Steel.  I'm sad to say Run 7 was cut off back in 2001.  Now G36 handles all that work.

In the July digital issue of Railway Age, there is an article highlighting the new LEADER Train handling System, with a video of the locomotive Engineer operating on the Pumkin Vine line between Roanoke and Belews Creek,  NC. Interesting if any of you can get it. I tried to save the vid but it wouldnt let me. any of you that have any ideas that i can get a link to the board  let me know.

I just looked at this guys stuff.  I really liked it.  You say your personal favorite is the CN C40-8M.   My favorite is "Waiting".  Some things are better than trains.  Just gives you warm fuzzes seeing a child smile.
