question about steam engines

I was wondering if all steam locos built used asbestos in the tubing and piping?

A lot of the engines were built with asbestos wrap on pipes as well as jacket insulation. There is a photo somewhere from the Baldwin plant with workers installing jacket insulation. There are also a couple pictures on rp of engines being abated. Passenger cars also used it as well on piping and it was in the floor tiles.
I am an asbestos management engineer by trade and I have been involved in several rail related projects.

As a note, steam locomotives were not the only locomotives with asbestos.
Asbestos wrap was used on diesels as well.
The piping from the radiators to the oil cooler, air compressor piping in the carbody, water type cab heater lines and steam heat lines all used this at one time.
The Vapor Clarskon steam generators installed on diesels for passenger car heat also had plenty of asbestos in them as well.
