If there is one thing that gets me more excited than a EMD, its steam, and if its Southern Steam, thats even better!

On the way home from a 3 day trip to the Birmingham Al area this past weekend, Carmon and myself stopped in at TVRM for a bit on Sunday, and had a look at the newly restored Southern Railway 630. She was resting outside the East Chattanooga shop after completing a couple of successful test runs on Saturday. I would have loved to have been there to see her first runs, but the sight of her sitting outside the shop, still warm and shining like she just came from the builder was good enough for us.

The TVRM guys have done an outstanding job from what I saw, and we are looking forward to spending a lot of time later this year shooting the trips she is planned to pull. As a sidenote, the 4501 is now deep in the shop, getting the same professional treatment the 630 did. The next few years will good...if your a fan of Southern Steam.

Check this link for several high-res images of the 630, if the little pics here are not enough for ya..
