Title: Stored antiques in Roanoke,Va
Post by: Dieselfan on October 23, 2010, 06:47:51 PM
Seen today in the middle of the yard in Roanoke..... old Budweiser wood sided boxcar, two old F units with no sheet metal on sides,a couple of old pullman coaches, old SR diesel 197, and old CR SDP45. How long has this been there? Is the old Budweiser boxcar going to the transportation museum?

All of that stuff already belongs to the VTM...I think NS is storing some stuff for them, as they are pretty much packed full at the museum proper.

I wish they had the room for it now. I would have loved to have gotten a closer look!

The last time I was out that way, the E unit that you probably saw was at the museum, shoved out by the back gate missing most of the car body panels. Its Ex-Wabash and and the 10'000th engine built by EMD..or something like that..

They would not be so stuffed if they would sell any of it.

There was a time, back in the early mid-60's when you could get up in the cab of the Wabash unit.  And, it was painted in Wabash colors.  That was when the museum was located in Wasena Park.
