Here's a question for you Danville guys.  I travel through there fairly often and love to stop at the yard.  I'm wondering if NS ever turns whole trains on the north wye, like maybe a train from Cinci to Louisville via Danville?  Or is it just used for turning engines in Danville?

I dont think I have ever seen them turn a whole train..that is a manifest, rack train ect. The wye was used to turn the excursion trains on a regular basis, and I have seen it used to trun work trains and lite power  a few times.. Besides that, its just a way to point them in the right direction from the CS to the LS and vice versa.

Most dont know, but there is a second wye in Danville, back in the yard near the old fuel racks. It has a short tail track and is rarely used...not much good for anything except turing a single engine ever now and then.

Didn't there used to be coal trains run that way to the power plant at Burgin?
