Title: New Cal-Scale Air Horn
Post by: SOU91 on September 12, 2014, 05:39:08 PM
Being either a Southern or NS modeler can be difficult at times, especially the horn. I was looking around for a decent stand in for a all bells forward Nathan P5 for my future GP50 project (I know all about the Genesis units I'd rather build my own still) I stumbled across a Nathan P5 made out of brass by Cal Scale. It may not be totally correct but its really close to being perfect.

Yeah I've seen it advertised for years and for about the same length of time it's always "on back order"  :-\ Wish they would re enter them into the market. For now there's an all bells forward Nathan M5 out there that looks closest to playing the part made by Cal Scale. I bought like $80 worth of them because the ones that come with Genesis units are oversized flexible crap. Somewhere in this modelers thread there were some post showing the ones I mentioned. Wanna say the topic was someone doing an HH ex SOU 38-2. This may help too

Just FYI- Details West makes a Nathan K5 Low Profile Reverse #3 and #4 (AH-251) and a Nathan K5 All Forward (AH-252) that are also close, and can be slightly modified to work... I used the AH-251 for my Southern GP59 4610 project. DE Dan

CAGY, you may be confusing the new Cal-Scale horn with another horn becuase the Cal-Scale all bells forward P5 has only been out for a few months at most.
