Title: The Lexington and Ohio RR, a look back
Post by: E.M. Bell on March 05, 2006, 06:27:24 PM
The 22nd of this month marks Three years since the Lexington and Ohio RR, my former employer, was sold to R.J. Corman. The LXOH operated the former Southern Railway LL branch between Versailles and Lexington KY for 7 years.

I spent almost 6 years on the LXOH working as Engineer, Conductor, Agent, and just about every other job there was to do. In true shortline style, a small crew did it all. During the years the LXOH operated the branch, a lot of old buisness that NS had lost was brought back to the rails, and several new customers where gained. We fought through derailments, washouts, ice and snow storms and other problems to turn it into a profitable company. Unknown to any of us, the G&O sold the LXOH to RJ Corman, and on March 22nd 2003, I ran the the last L&O train into Versailles.

I have created a new gallery on the JREB server with over 40 shots of the L&O. Clicking on any of the Thumbnails will open a larger picture. Hope you enjoy this look back...
