Part of my trip to Lexington, KY involved stopping by Kenova, WV. This is where the old N&W crosses the old C&O. I started off by taking some pics of a coal train crossing the giant bridge in Kenova. Then a CSX work train went under the NS bridge with a leaser GP40-2 and some ballast cars.
Next up, an Intermodal train with five units crosses the big bridge.
A little outside Kenova is the Kanawha River Terminal. They have a mix of old end cab switcher, a slug, and some ex-Canadian GP40-2L's.
As I left Kenova to head over towards Lexington, KY... I stopped by Ashland, KY and caught a Progress Rail end cab switcher running some gondolas towards the mill while a CSX light engine move passes. As the gondola train passed... I noticed the track condition. I know FRA exempt track is 10MPH... but, I do not think I would do 3MPH over this track!!! Hope you enjoyed. DE Dan
Somehow forgot to post this picture. It is the bridge at Kenova, WV from Virginia Point Park. DE Dan
