The Louisville, New Albany and Corydon railroad (LNAC) will soon stop all service after 120 + years. The LNAC, which runs from Corydon Indiana to a connection with the NS at Corydon Junction, sites loss of a major customer as the reason. After a major online plant closed, traffic levels have declined to the point that it is not feasable to continue operations. No firm date has been set for the last run, but its expected to be in the near future.
Didn't they have some nice Alco power?
Is this for thier freight operations, or the excursion trains too?
The excursion trains quit some time ago.

yeah they did have a nice collection of Alco power including 3 CAT repowered S4's, 1 RS11, 1 RS36, 1 C420 and 2 C424's. The C424's and RS11 never saw service on the railroad. The RS36 was the prefered power and was in use when I last visited back in May. Currently all 5 of the road locomotives are for sale with the switchers staying put, to be included in a proposed sale of the railroad to the county.
