ERIE, Pa. (AP) -- General Electric Co. on Tuesday said it received a contract worth more than $450 million to supply 300 locomotives to the Chinese Ministry of Railways.
GE, in a venture with Qishuyan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Works, will furnish the government agency with 6,000-horsepower train cars. GE said the design and logistics work is underway, and the first locomotives are scheduled for delivery in 2007, continuing through 2009.
