I Dont think we did this last year (maybe we did)..anyway..  Lets see your 5 favorite NS Images that you have taken during 2007.  Prototype, Model, it doesnt matter, just as long as its NS and YOU took it.. This is not a contest, just a look back at what you like...Roster shot, scenic, No locomotive, no problem...lets see your fav's!!

Ill start the ball rolling, in no particular oreder...

NS 229 rolls through the Rip-rap at Gradison KY.  This is one of my favorite locations to shoot, and one of my favorite shots from here..

"kicked back and relaxed"  NS SD70 2579 on train 61A at West Waddy KY, 04/28/07

284 crosses the Green River Bridge at South Fork KY, 05/08/07

The Frisco local crosses the Clinch River at Speers Ferry VA  09/29/07

The Southbound OCS crosses the New River early on the morning of October 30th, 2007.  Im sure not to many care for this one, but it was, and still is, one of my favorite shots of that whole OCS trip.  Out of the hoards of folks out chasing this thing, only Two of us got this shot...Im sure JR still thinks I am nuts for not watching to go in search of less fog and more sun that morning, but I love it..

This was a slow year for me in NS territory for several reasons, so I will just go with four pictures.

The first picture is from my afternoon at Ought-One, WV.  It is the previously posted shot from a caboose cupola.

The next is an icy look at the north portal of the by-passed Sloan's Valley Tunnel (CNO&TP Tunnel 5).

The third one I like mostly because I doubt many people have shot the location.  MP 183 is just north of Wiborg and just over the ridge from the by-passed CNO&TP Tunnel 12.

The last picture I got tonight at the Kentucky Horse Park while taking my girls to Southern Lights.

Like Butch mentioned in his post above, 2007 it was a slow year for me (too).

So let's go with a single photo of Kings Mountain, KY on December 24, 2007 . . . . of course, it helps when my "mountain" is inside, and about 60 degrees warmer than the Indiana landscape outside (plus no snow).

Here's a GP38-2 hauling a load of empty containers southbound through the deep cut.  It sure is nice to see the warm, green scenery on the day before Christamas.

Happy Holidays, NS-ers!

My five favorite Norfolk Southern photos of 2007

1. Although this is technically on the Norfolk Southern, it is the daily CP runthrough train (NS 30J) passing the TripleCrown facility at the east end of Rutherford yard in Harrisburg, PA . . . .

5. Finally, to finish up with a "bang", a Thermit weld filling a mold on the old Reading mainline at CP Tara just west of Hummelstown, PA . . . .

It was tough for me. i have a ton of pics from 2007, but here are my top 5 in no particular order:

20G stops to air up before dropping into the Gallitzin Tunnel.

The OCS sits on a quiet Sunday morning before the US Open in Oakmont.

Another OCS shot at Wegleys Crossing near Jeanette, PA.

Got questioned by 3 cops while waiting for this train. The circus train sits, waiting to unloand near the train station in Pittsburgh, PA.

2 trains meet on the gargantuan OC Bridge on Labor Day 2007. Took this while recovering from foot surgery. on crutches and still managed to get a level shot.

Enjoy and happy shooting in 2008!
