Title: 1982, The last Southern Railway Calender
Post by: E.M. Bell on June 01, 2012, 06:37:09 PM
With all the big NS birthday doings going on today, I thought I would share something a lot of folks might have not seen before.

I have a rather large collection of Southern Railway calenders, derived from various sources, and most all of them are put away and protected. The one in the pictures here is from 1982, and was the last calender produced by the Southern...on June 1st of that year, the N&W and Southern would merge. The picture was taken at Riverton Jct, Va, and with the Southern Geeps and the N&W Cabb showed what was on the horizon. I have a "mint" copy of this one safely stored away, but this copy is framed and has been hanging over the bar in the Kitchen for years.

I have often wondered what the last N&W calender looked like. Cant recall ever seeing a copy of it. Anyway, just a little piece of history I though yall might enjoy!

Nice item to have framed for display!

If I remember correctly, the photographer had a story to tell about that image.
