After several weeks without any west bound re-routed empty coal drags on the Alabama East End things have really picked up in the last 36 hours as there have been three so far. And based on the up tick in traffic on the Atlanta North End it is easy to see why. Last evening a 727 (UP assigned coal drag to Scherer) went through but it was too late in the day to catch it. Finally one went west during the early afternoon today and I headed out trackside.

NS 735 with BNSF Executive unit 9726 and 9616 roll west past the signal at the MP569.8 Douglasville Georgia

Two DP units BNSF9106 & 5852 on the end of 735 come to a stop on the main line in between Winston and Carroll as NS 226 (LOS ANGELES, CA (UP ZLCAI) - ATLANTA, GA) with three units UP 8081, 4491 & 4120 proceed east out of the siding at Winston toward Atlanta.

Headed west to Villa Rica and caught the head end and DP units at the MP 669.9 west end of the siding signal.

They been working on a bridge on the Memphis east end causing the extra detours usually it's just one a day. The Memphis subs has been flooded with coal trains in the last 2 months.
