transfer question

Right now I'm a track laborer but I'd like to be a conductor in the near future.  Is it relatively easy to get a transfer? Or does management frown on it? What is the process? Do you need a certain amount of time on the job? Right now I'm a little under a year.

I believe it shouldn't be to hard to transfer into the transportation department.  We have a lot of people who came from the track department and became conductors.  I will say this though.......

It's a lot harder to go back.
