It looks like I will have the day off tomorrow to do a little railfanning. It seems that a lot of the heritage units are in the Roanoke/ south western Virginia area at the moment. If you guys were going to pick an "area of operations" for tomorrow, where would you go? I live in Winston-Salem so I need to keep the drive to a reasonable distance, two hours give or take. Any advice would be much appreciated!

BTW, I also want to give a shout out to JREB member Kevin Gilliam for helping me find the montgomery tunnel last week during the 630 move to Bristol! I was lost and my GPS was acting crazy, but Kevin gave me great directions over the phone.

Hate to say it, but a bunch of the Heritage units have been running on the Belews Creek coal trains that come almost to W-S. I shot one last Monday on a BC train.

South Yard in ROA might be a good place to start. Beyond that they are in coal field service so they are anywhere coal goes.
