Title: Norfolk & Western Railway - Connellsville District pictorial
Post by: Longview Station on June 28, 2010, 09:14:10 AM

For anyone who has missed this, a new black & white pictorial (Duotone) book on Norfolk & Western's Connellsville District is available. This pictorial covers N&W operations of the Pittsburgh & West Virginia beginning in 1979 up through transfer of the P&WV lease in 1990. Coverage begins at Connellsville on Chessie, with a glimpse of CP-58-Y Tower (P&LE) the original route through Connellsville to the Western Maryland, and progresses westward to Pittsburgh Junction in Ohio, 111 miles distant. All four branches are covered including the now abandoned Donora Branch. There is even a small handful of early P&WV scene's dating to the 1930's as well as a photo of the Banksville Branch that was never part of the Connellsville District due to being abandoned long before its time, but was just down the street from the Uthor's early childhood home. This book is 9 inches by 12 inches, 144 pages, hardcover with a sensitive dustcover, heavy acid free 150 pound paper.
