A snowy day on the Louisville District

Emmett and I ventured out early this morning into the snow to see what we could find in the way of trains and other scenic locations.  Our area here in Central KY saw a decent snowfall over night, with about 4 inches of the wet, sticky kind of snow that sticks to everything.

We decided to stay on the Louisville district, and managed to shoot a few trains before the sleet started to fall and the roads got slick again. Below are a few of my favorites. Full sized version are over on Pbase.

Eastbound 285 at West Talamge Ky, with the lead engine covered in snow from the trip across Illinois and Indiana during the night.




Eastbound T79 works up the hill at Clarks Station with a short train for the Ford mixing Center. This was the first time I have caught a widecab GE running backwards on the main. They sure do look better this way.


Later in the afternoon, train 375 comes off the hill at Avenstoke KY as a nasty round of sleet and freezing rain was falling.
