Hello all,
I am new to this board, and have a found a wealth of info so far...   I was hoping someone on here could point me in the right direction...  I have decided to set my modeling era to 1979-1980 N&W and SRR - just before the NS merger.  Does any have/know where I can find a locomotive roster of both roads?  Looking so I know what I can/cannot run.  Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,
Bryan

Wow, I wish this was the current NS roster!  From a railfan's perspective of course...

I also thank you for these rosters. Both are interesting. I can remember seeing a lot of the N & W stuff running on trips to Portsmouth Ohio.

I do have questions about two entries on the N & W roster.
1) Did C425 1013 have a short hood and did it ever receive the NW noodle? If so I got it in HO Scale and it would fit the 1980's era I model.
2) What were the two F40PHs for? Chicago, the Hilltopper or something else?

N&W 1013 was a high short hood C425.  It was painted in its original black with yellow Norfolk and Western lettering until it was retired by NS in June of 1983.

The two F40PH's were leased from Chicago RTA (Metra) for use on Chicago area passenger trains that N&W was responsible for operating. They were painted in the Metra paint scheme and the 115 was named "Village of Oak Lawn", while the 116 was named "Village of Orlando Park".

Chris, you are awesome!  Thank you so much, that is exactly what I was looking for!  That way I can have the right models for the era...  Now its time to go thru my own roster and see what stays and what has to go...  Thanks a million!

So Chris, I don't suppose you have a Norfolk Southern roster for around 1990?  I to am closing in on a modeling period for a project that has been on the boards for some time..

I dug around my files and found NS 1990 and 1992 rosters, which I've posted in the Motive Power forum in the following thread:
