Inspection Train or Research Train?

I'm confused. This is a stupid question, but I am wondering the difference between an inspection train and a research train. On the WV Sec. we get the inspection train with a NS GP-38-2 leader and a auxiliary power unit and one Research car. On the " Pokey " I hear them talking about inspection trains. I'm not sure of the difference therefore I'm asking you guys.

Now the OLS train is pulled by the F-units correct?
