288 was H O T

288 was backing a load of auto racks into the yard.  He was blocking Rogers Gap road where I was sitting.  I heard a loud boom, looked over and a 3 foot flame was raging under a rack.  The switch heater had blown up.  I ran and told the engineer, he didnt seem to concerned about it and declined my offer to call the fire dept.  He back the remaining 2 racks and a SD70 and D940CW over the fire.  The engineer called north end dispatch and she alerted a superviser to check it out.  I betcha the thing burned for a good 30 min before they put it out. 

BTW  the racks were full of BMW's
