16 years ago today, Dec 7th, 1994, the fires are dropped in Roanoke for what many thought would be the last time. Now, 2011 promises new hope for steam on the NS again, on a smaller scale, with smaller engines, but back in 94, it never really seemed possible.

about as "high" as I have ever been able to get a slide. .
Is it going to be 611 chugging along the way,or is there another steam locomotive they will be using
Sorry for all the smoke coming out of the tunnel. If NS does get to the point of wanting to use the 611, I hope they cut off those god awful coal boards. They ruin the whole shape of the locomotive. But they were able to make B'ham-Chatt. without taking coal with them.
When I use to haul truck coal we called those coal boards..."cost of living boards."

To answer your question, it will be ex-Southern steam power, not the N&W 611.
