Louisville Main Coal Train?
«

Caught a west bound empty coal train through Lawrenceburg last night. 3 Dash 9-40CW's on the head end and 2 ES40DC on the rear pushing. Cars were a mix, but primarily had HYWX and HBWX reporting marks. I believe these belong to Georgia Power.
Anyone know the origin and destination of the coal and the frequency per week?
Thanks

These have been running a couple of times a week since March. They load off the old AW&W in Indiana , and go to a GA power plant. From what I have observed, there are only a couple of dedicated trains making the rotation with mostly the same equipment.
The move seems to be almost always at night through this area, and I have yet to shoot one. Its nice to see coal on the LS again though. I can remember back in the 80's when it was a pretty common thing.
