Since about every other Rathole is on this forum but the 22, 23, and 24, I might as well post them. Here are a few pictures of the Ratholes in Nemo, TN.
North end of the New Tunnel 24 that bypassed the orginal bore.

South end of New Tunnel 24

North end of old 24, the weather hits the north end this tunnel more often, causing the face to deteriorate, I just can't wait to see the number stone fall on someones pickup as it comes out of the tunnel.

South portal of old 24

South portal of tunnel 23, this tunnel wasn't lined because it went through solid limestone or sandstone. I believe is was a few feet longer before the relocation project than it is now. I'm thinking the cut they made around took about 5 to 10 feet on the west wall on this end.

North portal of old 23, this side is more square

A 900 lbs. steel coupler on the bank of the Emory River just about a 1/4 mile between old bridge 89 and old tunnel 23

Old bridge 89, from the south side, a steel pipe spans this bridge and into old tunnel 22 and to C.W. Tower, the old switch heater was located here on this end of bridge (hince, the pipe)

North support for bridge 89

Old grade looking south from the south end of bridge 89

Me standing on a large rock next to the Emory River, just behind me is the north support of bridge 89 and in the trees is old Tunnel 22 (not visible)

North end of old Tunnel 22(sorry i don't have the south end, I couldn't get a good photo, mostly because of the brush in front of the tunnel)

North side of the New Tunnel 22, This is at C.W. Tower

My edited topo of Nemo, to give you a general idea of how the tunnels are laid out

Here are 3 you-tube videos of mine that have us hiking or driving through all 3 abandoned tunnels

Wow, nice photographs and movies.

Love the reference map, as that really shows the elevation changes in that rugged terrain.

Thanks for sharing!  RDS
