HO scale track

Getting ready to start my new layout and with all the track choices what do you prefer? I have no idea what the best brand for the money is or what the difference is between code 80 and code 100. Any help will be very appreciated.

I am anxious to hear comments about brands too.
I can tell you code 83 has smaller rails that are the correct prototypical size. Code 100 rail is bigger. That is the only difference.
