I have found that May in Buffalo is rather pleasant- no more cold breezes and the leaves are finally on the trees. I went out there for a day last weekend to psend a day by the tracks.

Although NS was absent from Tifft Street in Buffalo during the morning, both CSX and B&P were busy there. The B&P local was powered by 2 end cab switchers, including a blue ex-Reading/Conrail SW1001:

For a complete look at the morning action at Tifft Street, please visit this slide show:

The NS Lake Erie district was quiet in the morning because an MOW truck has track authority from Blasdell to Dunkirk, os there was no point in sitting at GB Diamond. I have been interested of late in the Black Rock connection. It is in the northwestern corner of Buffalo. CSX, CN, CP and NS use this line to go to and from Canada. However, they were quiet, too.

I did headed back over to the NS Lake Erie District in the afternoon and caught 2 NS trains at Lake Avenue in Blasdell:

Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

I also returned to Tifft Street in the afternoon, whgich was even bsuier than it had been earlier in the day.

The B&P local was still shuffling cars in the Buffalo Creek Yard:

NS local C88 returning to Tifft Street after swapping a few cars in Hamburg:

As C88 stopped to work in Tifft Terminal, NS auto rack freight 287 arrived:

After a quick dunner break, I ended the day at Bayview Road, where CSX (ex-NYC) and NS (ex-NKP) run sided by side

Thanx! A day later, I caught two of new DC to AC units further east. Numbers 4002 and 4044 were leading NS 23K on the Southern Tier Mainline:

Bothp otos in this post were taken by me Saturday 5/13/2017 at Silver Road in Bethany, NY. I learned something new- only a few of NS's DC to AC units (like #4002) have special paint schemes. the rest (like #4044) have standard paint schemes.
