I was hoping to get down into the heart of NY's Southern Tier region on Friday 10/21, but nearly 4 inches on ran put a damper on that plan. I rescheduled for the end of last week, with the results being very much to my liking.

NS mixed freight 310 heading east at the State Route 352 overpass in East Corning:

Norfolk Southern and the Bath & Hammondsport RR have changed their interchange at Painted Post. the itnrchange is now taking palce west of Charles Street. Local H85 drops off a spacer car:

NS H85 also went went up to Coopers Plains to fetch a string of tank cars. Here we see the SD40-2s approaching Hamilton Street in painted Post with the consist in tow:

The B&H constructed a siding in Painted Post for a water train, which is now defunct. NS uses it to drop off traffic for the B&H now. The B&H sent their C424ms to fetch a fresh string of tank cars:

Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

I then chased the B&H out into the countryside.

A brief pauise just east of the Robert Dann Drive crossing in Coopers Plains:

I rounded out the afternoon with a foray into the Canisteo River valley, where I caught 3 trains on the Southern Tier Mainline.

NS intermodal 23K westbound at Saunders Road in Rathbone:

NS intermodal 205 westbound at Allen Road in Cameron, with a couple of BNSF pumpkins for power:

Thanks to my trusty scanner, I knew that NS 205 would take the siding at CP Cam for NS mixed freight 36t. I chased 36T eastward, including MP 307 in Rathbone:
