Kentucky & Indiana Terminal RR

Is there a list somewhere of railroads the SR interchanged with ? Thinking of adding a few "foreign ponies " to my stable of a railroad the real southern would've interchanged with, most of them I know but I was hoping to see a full list to see all my options.

The following are run-through trains Southern ran in 1979.  You'd probably find the foreign power on these trains.

-New Orleans, LA interchange-
114 Houston, TX (Missouri Pacific) - New Orleans, LA - Birmingham, AL
115 Birmingham, AL - New Orleans, LA - Houston, TX (Missouri Pacific)
193 Birmingham, AL - New Orleans, LA - Houston, TX (Southern Pacific)
194 Houston, TX (Southern Pacific) - New Orleans, LA - Birmingham, AL

-Cincinnati, OH interchange-
116 Atlanta, GA - Cincinnati, OH - Columbus, OH (Conrail)
117 Columbus, OH (Conrail) - Cincinnati, OH - Atlanta, GA
171 Toledo, OH (Chessie System) - Cincinnati, OH - Atlanta, GA
172 Atlanta, GA - Cincinnati, OH - Toledo, OH (Chessie System)
350 Atlanta, GA - Cincinnati, OH - Sharonville, OH (Conrail)

-Memphis, TN interchange-
162 Pine Bluff, AR (Cotton Belt) - Memphis, TN - Chattanooga, TN
163 Linwood, NC - Memphis, TN - Pine Bluff, AR (Cotton Belt)
173 Potomac Yard, VA (RF&P) - Memphis, TN (Frisco Tennessee Yard)
191 Sheffield, AL - Memphis, TN - North Little Rock, AR (Missouri Pacific)
192 North Little Rock, AR (Missouri Pacific) - Memphis, TN - Sheffield, AL
195 Sheffield, AL - Memphis, TN - North Platte, NE (Union Pacific)
196 North Platte, NE (Union Pacific) - Memphis, TN - Sheffield, AL
-note- 195/196 ran on Missouri Pacific rails between Memphis and Kansas City.

I don't think Rock Island had enough traffic for run through trains as they did in the past but trains 164 and 165 between Memphis and Linwood, NC carried the Rock Island traffic.

Trains 197 and 198 between Memphis and Sheffield, AL carried Missouri Pacific traffic.

-Centralia, IL interchange-
119 Galesburg, IL (Burlington Northern) - Centralia, IL - Louisville, KY
120 Louisville, KY - Centralia, IL - Galesburg, IL (Burlington Northern)

-Mount Vernon, IL interchange-
231 Chicago, IL (Missouri Pacific) - Mount Vernon, IL - Danville, KY
232 Danville, KY - Mount Vernon, IL - Chicago, IL (Missouri Pacific)

Also worth mentioning are East St. Louis, IL, Jacksonville, FL, Bristol, VA and Alexandria, VA (Potomac Yard).  In East St. Louis, the Southern incherchanged traffic with the western railroads mostly through the TRRA.  In Jacksonville, most of Southern's traffic was to/from the FEC.  In Bristol, traffic was interchanged with the N&W.  In Alexandria, all Southern's traffic was classified at Potomac Yard owned by the RF&P.  However, I don't think Southern ever used any of those railroads' power.

100% correct on the New Orleans info. My father was an operator in NE tower (where the Southern crossed the L&N leading into Gentilly yard) He used to pop out from time to time and get pictures when he could.  Some amazing stuff back then.
