1st District Server Problems
« on: September 12, 2013, 06:58:00 AM »
Well, after 6 years, the hard drive has given up on the main ATCS server. I have a "band-aid" on it at the moment, but there will be some downtime for the next few days as I replace it. Who would think that a hard drive in a well used computer when I got it, would only last 6 years of 24/7 operation......go figure   ;)

They dont make them like they used to, thats for sure :0  Just stay away from these new solid state drives. We have had to replace Two of those (both less than 6 months old) at work....needless to say I am less than impressed with them..

New server is online. Picked up a core2 duo for $20 on craigslist. Seems to be doing a good job. Might see a couple of hiccups while I am doing software stuff, but should be pretty reliable....for a while. :)
