Entry #1:

A westbound NS manifest freight (possibly 12T) rumbles across the Chemung River on the Southern Tier Mainline yesterday.

Photo taken by me Thu 11/24/2011 in the City of Elmira, NY. A full trip report will be coming soon.

Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

Entry #2:

A leased SD60 crosses William Street on a former Erie bridge. This is one of two NS bridges I've seen that have Erie markings on them... a rare sight indeed.

I have two shots to enter. One shows the eastbound "River Local" crossing the North Fork of the Holston River near Surgoinsville, TN in 1984.

The second shot is no. 2839, the Royal Hudson leased by SR in 1979-81. The engine is running lite at Natural Tunnel in March 1979---showing green flags and running as First 90.

The two pic limit on Tunnels and Bridges is killing me.   :)    Anyway, most of my good shots are already on the board somewhere, but I'll go with these two.

From the edge of Lake Cumberland below the southern portal of CNO&TP Tunnel 4, Dan Thompson and I shot this northbound passing a stopped 117 on the Burnside Bridge with the Cooper Power Plant in the background.

There's not much snow in the East yet... so I'd hold that snow contest in February.
